It's a shame that happened, but regardless of how long the whale has been there, it is still a wild animal.

I heard on the nightly news, but I didn't see it in the article, that the former owners sold this animal to Sea World for ONLY breeding purposes. This animal had killed a trainer before it was sold to Orlando Sea World.

The whole concept of caging an animal up and forcing it to do tricks to amuse us infuriates me. I even hate the Zoo(s). Heck, I even feel so sorry for my house cats because they can't be out playing and chasing birds like they want. Animals are meant to be outside doing their thing as god intended them and not doing back flips and belly flops for us to ooh and ahh at. How can anyone blame an animal for an attack on a human when they have no clue what we are doing to them and we have no clue what they are thinking. It is just a ticking time bomb waiting to go off and in this case it is a shame, but could have been avoided.

It is a very sad situation. We went to Sea World a few years back- my girls loved the show. The whole time I was thinking these people are nuts for getting into the water w/these animals. It is human error. They can't release him back to the wild because he wouldn't survive. I agree w/you Joe on how these animals shouldn't be caged up. But to Sea Worlds defense they do alot of research and they also have different rescues that help endangered species. It is just a shame the lady had to lose her life to an animal that she trusted
