I guess I will date myself on this one: Wes Kings, Longview School, LA Leathers, Christies, The Green Lantern or the car dealership before the Green Lantern next to McCrorys. How about the Swinging Bridge or the Cow Barns. Enough said.

When I was a kid I remember going to Palumbo's with my grandfather when he took his cows to get cut up. Most kids would be traumatized but I grew up with it...LOL

I remember the swinging bridge too! I was terrified to cross that bridge and the one time I got up the courage to do it, some strangers got on it behind me and started jumping and trying to sway the bridge. I would never go on that bridge again after that episode!

I went to grade school with some Browns in Brookville , they were related to the Browns who had the shoe store. The year was 1960

I remember playing with the green blue glass back in 1960, what ever happened to Lincoln Elementary school?

Is the old Sylvania dome roof building still there?

How about the old Brookville Grays baseball team?

Never heard of the Lincoln Elementary School. I went to the Longview Elementary School on Hastings Street in the early 50s. As far as the Brookville Grays go,,,,,,,,,,,I used to go watch Fuzzy Carlson, and a multitude of others play there in the 50s. They used to give us the broken bats and we would put wood screws in them and tape them back up and use them. The Green Blue Glass came from the Glass plant down by the railroad tracks, it was so nice, but I once got my fingers cut real bad when I picked up a big chunk and threw it.

I would just like to add a few more places of interest that were in Brookville. Leons gas station, Brewsters Gas Station, small market on East Main street at Pride. Then there was the Dry Cleaners at the foot of Litch on East Main street. There was the Dixie Diner, the Glove Factory, Weins, Means and Lauf Drug Store, Western Auto, and Fetzers Hardware on Main Street. And dont forget the Studebaker Garage, behind Fetzers going toward Punxy. And who remembers going out to the Beanery?? Lots of fun at that meeting place. Oh well, Ive really dated myself with this one, but doesnt outdo the swinging bridge I used to play on going back and forth to my Little Leage Games or the Cow Barns............what fun.

My mistake it's been so long it was Longview school. My father pitched for the Grays, Chet Marshall ( Chet the Jet) I also lived on Hastings St.
